Natural Resources of the Rice Creek Watershed
Lakes
There are an abundance of natural resources in the watershed of Rice Creek. From the lakes and streams, to the flora and fauna, you can hardly avoid coming across the many natural resources of Rice Creek as you travel around the district. Through the careful management of the water resources of the watershed, the Rice Creek Watershed District strives to protect all of these natural resources for generations to come.

The water resources of our district are particularly abundant. In our approximately 200 square mile watershed, there are about 60 major lakes, more than 150 miles of streams & ditches, and the wetlands are almost too numerous to count. All in all, this means that the careful monitoring and management of these systems is very important to our watershed and to the region as a whole.
